Food, gold prices stable in Kabul markets

KABUL: Little or no changes occurred in the prices of food items and gold during the outgoing week in Kabul, market sources said, but the afghani declined against foreign currencies.

The price of a 49-kg bag of Pakistani sugar stayed stable at 1,600afs, a 50-kg bag of Kazakhstan flour at 1,100afs, a 16-kg tin of Khurshid Ghee at 10,20afs and a 24-kg bag of Pakistani rice at 2,000afs.

A filling station official in Wazirabad locality, Abdul Hadi, said one liter each of diesel and petrol was sold for 44afs.

Ahmadullah, a liquefied gas seller in Kolola Pushta neighborhood, sold a kilo of the commodity for 50afs..

Meanwhile, Noor Ahmad Khirkhwa, a green tea seller in Mandai neighborhood, sold one kg of Indonesian green tea for 280afs and the same quantity of African black tea for 300afs.

But Ahmad Wali Punjshiri, a food seller in Dehn-i-Bagh locality, sold a 49-kg bag of Pakistani sugar for 1,800afs and a 50-kg of Kazakh flour for 1,180afs.

He sold a 16-kg tin of Khurshid Ghee for 11, 00afs and a 24-kg bag of Pakistani rice for 2,400afs, 1-kg Indonesian green tea for 300afs and the same quantity of African black tea for 300afs.

Gold rate remains stable

Haji Fawad Ahmad Saleh, a jeweler in Kabul, said one gram of Arabian gold was priced at 2400afs and the same quantity of Russian variety at 19, 50afs.

Afghani dips

The Afghan currency lost some value to the US dollar and the Pakistani rupee as one US dollar consumed 69.5 afghanis and 1, 000 rupees 607afs against last week’s 69afs and 605afs respectively.
