Former premier Nawaz Sharif shifted to Jinnah Hospital from jail

LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supermo Nawaz Sharif has been shifted to Jinnah Hospital of Lahore from Kot Lakhpat jail owing to his illness, on Friday.

According to details, the government of Punjab on Thursday issued a notification to shift Nawaz Sharif to Jinnah Hospital from Kot Lakhpat jail.

The Punjab home department has announced to provide Nawaz Sharif foolproof security at the hospital.

Jinnah Hospital administration has made preparations for Nawaz Sharif. The hospital rooms to be provided to the former prime minister will be declared as sub jail.

The decision to shift Sharif to hospital, has been taken over the recommendation of the medical board, according to sources.

Imprisoned former premier Sharif was shifted back to Kot Lakhpat jail on Thursday from Services Hospital in Lahore.

The Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) leader had refused to be shifted to Punjab Institute of Cardiology and insisted to be taken back to jail.

The former premier was shifted to Services Hospital on February 3 and underwent medical tests to ascertain his health condition. The official said the tests had detected a stone in Sharif’s left kidney.

Sharif’s personal physician Dr Adnan Khan had also demanded the treatment of his patient as per the recommendations of the medical board report.

LAHORE: Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif to be shifted to Jinnah Hospital from Kot Lakhpat Jail today (Friday) and all the preparations have been completed in this regard.

According to media reports, the decision to shift Nawaz Sharif to Jinnah Hospital was taken over the recommendation of medical board. Notification issued by home ministry said that Sharif will be provided with fool proof security at the hospital.

On Feb 7, the incarcerated former premier Nawaz Sharif was shifted back to Kot Lakhpat jail on Thursday from Services Hospital in Lahore.

Nawaz Sharif had refused to be shifted to Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC) and insisted to be taken back to jail.

“I had already been shifted to PIC before being taken to Services Hospital,” Nawaz said.

PML-N’s Quaid was shifted to Services Hospital on February 3 and underwent various medical tests to ascertain severity of different diseases he is suffering from. The official said the tests had detected a stone in Sharif’s left kidney.

Dr Adnan Khan, personal physician of Nawaz Sharif also demanded the treatment of his patient as per the recommendations of special medical board at Services Hospital.

Earlier on December 24, the accountability court convicted Sharif in the Al-Azizia reference and sentenced him to seven years in prison, and acquitted him in the Flagship reference case filed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in Mega corruption scandal.
