Former President Zardari terms PM Imran’s ‘threat letter’ fake

F.P. Report

ISLAMABAD: Former president Asif Ali Zardari Thursday reached the Parliament House where he, to a question of a journalist, maintained that the prime minister’s threat letter was fake, those [the government] were also fake, and the government’s mandate was also fake.

It was reported that the former president arrived in the Parliament to attend the National Assembly session for a debate and voting on the no-confidence motion against the prime minister.

Upon his arrival in the Parliament, a journalist asked him: “Will you attend the meeting of the parliamentary committee on national security that is to review the alleged threat letter?”

The former president answered: “Whether we ourselves review the letter or not, this letter is fake. These [the government] are also fake. The government’s mandate is also fake.”

Earlier, the united opposition had demanded that the government bring the alleged threat letter to Parliament for a debate.

The opposition parties also decided not to attend the meeting of the parliamentary committee on national security called by National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser.

The united opposition also wrote a letter to the National Assembly speaker, urging him to include the election of a new prime minister in the agenda of the National Assembly session.

The opposition, during a meeting prior to the National Assembly session, had also vowed to push for the no-confidence motion through legal and constitutional ways.
