LANDI KOTAL: Four coal miners were killed in gas explosion incident took place here in Kala Khel area of Bara tehsil of the Khyber tribal district on Wednesday, official and local sources said. The sources informed that the coalmine labors were busy in digging of coal when mine collapsed due to gas explosion inside the mine, buried the mine workers under the debris.
Soon after the occurrence, locals and the Khasadar troops rushed to the site and kicked off relief works. Bodies of the four ill-fated labors were retrieved out of the mine after hectic efforts. The deceased four workers were identified as Noorul Haq, Fazal Rahim, Fazal Rabi and Muhammad Iqbal who passed away on the spot.
All the deads were belonged to the Alpuri area of Shangla district and later on the body were transported to their native area after funeral prayer. The Kalakhel mines association announced Rs 3,000,00 for each of the victim.
According to the experts coal mining incidents has become a routine act in the country as the workers avoid precautionary measures to shut the untoward happens. The international standards for miners are as; they should be properly dressed in fitting shirts and trousers beside with wearing of helmets, carry safety lamps and keep gas cylinders handy. One hardly can see these measures applied in the mines of the country.
