NANGARHAR: At least four local cricket players were killed in an explosion on Friday evening in Bati Kot district of Nangarhar province, a local official said. The provincial governor’s spokesman Attaullah Khogyani confirmed the incident and said the explosion happened in Chardehi area of the district while a cricket match was underway between district teams.
Khogyani said four cricket players were killed and two civilians were wounded. Bati Kot district of Nangarhar is an insecure area in the province. No further details have been given regarding Friday’s incident and no group has claimed responsibility for the incident yet.
