France on heat wave alert

PARIS (AA): France is on a heat wave alert as temperatures are expected to touch almost 39C in some regions on Monday and Tuesday, according to the country’s weather authority.

Meteo France announced on its website and X that 40 departments in the northern, central, and southeastern parts of the country were put on orange alert.

The notification applies to the same departments on Tuesday as well.

Meteo France said it is expecting that the heat will decrease in the western regions on Monday, but temperatures will hover between 36C and 39C (96.8F to 102.2F) in other parts of the country.

A previous notification on Sunday put 45 departments under orange alert.
