From pillar to post: A Sindhi family on roads for justice

Abdullah Malik

ISLAMABAD: On 11th November, 2014 my ten years old son Mir Abdullah after doing breakfast left home to feed their goats in nearby fields but in next one hour one of our family member screaming running toward our house predict heart wrenching news that the landlords (Waderas) killed Amir Abdullah and I fall down to the ground and were unconscious for some time and when my sense restored I found my loving and innocent son’s dead body on bed tortured with axe by local landlord because my son’s goat entered into the adjacent farms and then they awarded capital punishment to my son this was told by 50, years old Nusrat from Patofi tribe of Kahirpur, Sindh while tears rolling down on her face.

Mir Abdullah twenty-two years old brother Maroof is the only male member of their family whose leading the protest since 12th March, 2018 in lawn of Islamabad Press club but still no hope of justice.

Maroof told Frontier Post that following killing of my brother the landlord put pressure on their family repeatedly to settle this issue and don’t move in court for justice against us we will ruin your remaining family as well but they didn’t stop and file  case in court and nominate some members of the landlords who hails from Kanisro tribe of Sindh.

The police arrested those nominated by the victim family in FIR and the case was in process in court when their family was told that four eye witness of the Mir Abdullah murder killed by unknown people violently and that was a bombshell for the mourned family because only four people were witness of Abdullah”s murder and no one of them is remaining of their family.

Mir Abdullah’s cousin Ali Raza was active in leading this case against the powerful landlords but after some days he was kidnapped from Karachi and was killed after three days custody.

Her mother fifty years old Chuttan told The Frontier Post that her son Ali Raza was not only violently killed but as well both of their eyes were damaged as well they cut the tongue of my son. She added that later the influential landlords killed my young son Arzu in same way just to threaten us to take back our case in court.

And their brutality didn’t halts at that point a total of 5 family members were killed and more than fifty houses and shops were demolished of our community and we fled to Islamabad while some of our family members fled to Baluchistan and other locations noted by 30 years old Zeenat of the family whose husband is in jail along with 50 other family members as more than 125 FIRS lodged against their family members, She added.

Its pertained to mentioned here that the family is living in National Press Club Islamabad lawn since two years in a small place where no facility of electricity or other basic necessaries service are available but they vowed that they will face more troubles but will never stop the journey of justice.

Last year the grieved family arranges hunger protest in front of Supreme Court of Pakistan but they were arrested by police while protesting in red zone of the capital but then Chief Justice of Supreme Court Justice Mian Saqib Nisar took action on protest and directed Sindh government to submit a report on this issue.

The documents available with The Frontier Post submitted to the court by Sindh government mentioned that two local tribes of the Khairpur are fighting on land dispute and both tribes suffered massive losses but the Patofi tribe violently haunted by the other powerful tribe.

The court verdict available with this scribe directed the Sindh government not only to arrest the perpetuators as well pay compensation to the effected families.

Maroof mentioned that court directed strict action against the accused as well compensation but the Sindh government facilitated only two families not others and the accused involved in demolishing our houses, shops and killing of our family members are still roaming free because some influential politicians put pressure on police barred them from action because the landlords were backing by a political party and still they are supporting them.

Zeenat concluded that multiple times they walk toward the Prime Minister residence Banigala and Bilawal Bhutto Zardari house in Islamabad but no one is ready to listen their pain being ruined by the landlords violently.
