GB speaker Amjad Zaidi ousted in no-confidence vote

F.P. Report

ISLAMABAD: Gilgit Baltistan Assembly Speaker Amjad Zaidi has been ousted through a no-confidence motion.

The no-trust move against Amjad Zaidi succeeded on Wednesday as 21 votes were polled in favour of the motion while only one was cast against it.

Two days ago, Amjad Zaidi had withdrawn his resignation he had submitted to the governor, putting his fate in the hands of lawmakers.

The no-confidence motion against the speaker by the like-minded group of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) was tabled in the House.

It is to be noted here that GB Assembly Speaker Amjad Zaidi had resigned from his position a few days ago after the no-confidence motion was moved against him.

Mr Zaidi resigned on May 31, after a group of assembly members, led by his deputy Nazir Ahmed, submitted the motion for “not honouring an agreement to share the post”.
