KABUL: General Joseph Votel, head of U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) met Afghan President Muhammad Ashraf Ghani at the Presidential Palace here on Tuesday (February 19).
According to a presidential office press release available with Afghan Islamic Press (AIP), both the sides discussed various key issues including training of security and defence forces, peace process and joint war on terrorism.
General Joseph Votel said his job would come to an end soon. A person aware of the conditions of Afghanistan would fill his position, he added. He would continue working in coordination with the people of Afghanistan.
On the occasion, President Ghani lauded the cooperation of General Joseph Votel with Afghanistan and said the Afghan security and defence forces had strengthened compared to the pats. (AIP)
