Ghani discusses new US strategy with Mike Pence

KABUL: Afghan President Ashraf Ghani had discussed the new US strategy for Afghanistan with the US vice President Mike Pence on Tuesday night in a telephonic conversation.

The Afghan President Palace issued a statement in this regard on Wednesday. It stated that both the leaders discuss several issues including the new US policy and strategy for Afghanistan and its impact on the regional situation.

They also discussed to strengthening the security and defense institutions of Afghanistan and make them able to fight against the terrorism on their own, and bringing reforms in the country to end the doors of corruption and forward the peace process.

Mike Pence assured Afghan President Ghani that US government and people will continue to stand by their side till the solution of problems that they are facing in the area.

It added that Pence also praised the Afghan security forces for their courage and sacrifices in fighting terrorism in the country.
