Ghani insists both on peace, defense during armed forces day

KABUL: President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani says peace is a desire of the government and nation but he insisted that the Afghan forces should always be ready for the legitimate self defense and to suppress the enemies of the country.

He made the remarks during a ceremony to mark the national day of the Defense and Security Forces.

President Ghani admitted that the country is in the state of war as he insisted that negligence and shortcomings in the battlefield will not be acceptable.

He said the Afghan forces must always be ready for the legitimate self defense and to suppress the enemies of the country.

In regards to the government’s efforts for the reconciliation process, President Ghani said he has shared his proposals for the peace talks during the Kabul Process II summit.

He once insisted that peace is one of the top requirements of the nation and a national consensus has been established and the government is committed to take practical actions for the proposals that were shared during the Kabul Process summit.

In the meantime, President Ghani said that the rights of the women will be protected when it comes to reconciliation and all necessary steps will be taken to defend against the civil rights of the women of the country.
