KABUL (Agencies): During a funeral ceremony held, President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani paid tribute to former Wolesi Jirga member Martyr Obaidullah Barakzai who was martyred in a terrorist attack in Kandahar province, the Presidential Palace said in a statement.
While praying for his soul, President Ghani extended his heartfelt condolences to the people of Kandahar, national assembly and all Afghans, adding Obaidullah Barakzai was a strong person, the statement further said.
The president said when I sympathized with him on his son’s martyrdom, even he condoled me, the statement added.
Pointing at sacrifices made by Martyr Barakzai family, the president said the deceased family has made many sacrifices so far and currently one of their sons is serving in national army ranks.
Wishing paradise to Martyr Barakzai, the president assured his family to thoroughly investigate about the terror attack and will share the results with them.
Afterwards, son of Martyr Barakzai Hazrat Shah Barakzai spoke and while thanking the president said Martyr Barakzai had always made effort for system’s revival and his country’s pride and we will continue his way with all power.
Later on, the president accompanied Martyr Barakzai’s coffin which was covered by the country’s flag to its special place.
