Ghani says youths would be part of every decision
KABUL (AIP): President Muhammad Ashraf Ghani met the civil society members including youths as part of his ongoing meetings with people belonging to various walks of life for formation of peace consultation board at the Presidential Palace on Saturday. According to a press release issued by the presidential office, President Muhammad Ashraf Ghani said youths would be part of every national decision.
The civil society members presented their viewpoints and proposals before the president. They lauded the president for consulting people belonging to various walks of life. They said the youths considered themselves on board in the key decisions of the country. On the occasion, President Muhammad Ashraf Ghani said the youths were the representatives of Afghanistan.
Terming peace as a national discussion, President Ghani said only the people of the country could define their norms. Lauding the role of youths in the peace process of key importance, the president said efforts would be put to include youths in the decision-making processes in the country. Reaching to peace was not a direct and smooth path, the president said. Many ups and downs would be tolerated for the purpose, he added. The peace negotiating team would consult the nation in every opportunity.
Meanwhile, President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani met with Mohammad Younus Qanooni and leader of Hezb Islami Gulbuddin Hekmatyar as part of the ongoing consultative meetings regarding reconciliation efforts. The Office of the President, ARG Palace, in a statement said President Ghani thanked Qanooni for his views and discussed the establishment of peace consultative board establishment.
The statement further added that President Ghani informed Qanooni that the results of the consultative meetings would be shared once the views of the representatives of the nation have been collected. According to ARG Palace, President Ghani also met with the leader of Hezb Islami Gulbudddin Hekmatyar.
The delegation of Hezb Islami led by Hekmatyar shared their views and recommendations regarding the reconciliation efforts, ARG Palace said, adding that President Ghani thanked the delegation for their views and vowed to share the results of the meeting once the views of all representatives of the nation have been gathered. President Ghani had earlier met with Abdul Rab Rasool Sayaf, Senate House Chairman Fazal Hadi Muslimyar, and leaders of Jamiat Islami to discuss peace efforts.
President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani met with the leaders of Jamiat Islami party to discuss ongoing efforts regarding Afghan-led peace process. The Office of the President, ARG Palace, in a statement said President Ghani met with Jamiat Islami Chief Salahuddin Rabbani, Jamiat Islami Chief Executive Ata Mohammad Noor, and Ismail Khan. The statement further added that the meeting focused on establishment of consultative board for peace.
President Ghani thanked the Jamiat Islami leaders for their views and said a national consensus is needed to reach to a peace deal. He also added that consultative meetings would continue with the representatives of various communities and national segments and the results would be shared soon. President Ghani had earlier met with former Jihadi leader Abdul Rab Rasool Sayaf and Senate House Chairman Fazal Hadi Muslimyar.
