Ghani to brief world leaders on peace

KABUL: Afghanistan’s President Ashraf Ghani on Tuesday left Kabul for Switzerland where he is expected to meet a number of world leaders at the sideline of the World Economic Forum at Davos.

“President Ghani leaves for Switzerland to attend the World Economic Forum 2020 Davos. He will be meeting with the world leaders and talk about Afghanistan’s peace and economic development,” tweeted SediqSediqqi, a spokesman for President Ghani.

US President Donald Trump and Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan are also attending the Davos meeting.

Speaking at Davos, Trump said the US will join the “one trillion trees initiative” launched at the forum.

Trump also highlighted his economic achievements and said that the US has signed a number of historic economic deals that are more fair and reciprocal.

The 50th World Economic Forum was kicked off in the Swiss city of Davos, with an agenda that is focused heavily on economy. World leaders are also expected to discuss other important issues including climate change and conflicts currently affecting several regions.(TOLOnews)
