Gilgit-Baltistan people to be empowered: Fawad

ISLAMABAD: Minister of Information and Broadcasting Chaudhry Fawad Hussain on  Wednesday said people of Gilgit-Baltistan loved Pakistan, and as per  their aspirations, Gilgit-Baltistan would be empowered from constitutional  and administrative point of view.

This he said during a meeting with Leader of Opposition in Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly Mohammad Shafi who called on him here .

Fawad said that it was the priority of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf government  to strengthen the people of Gilgit-Baltistan, economically and politically.

He said that constitutional and administrative rights were being provided to  Gilgit-Baltistan under legal framework.

Leader of the Opposition in GB Assembly Muhamamd Shafi said that the  PML-N government had distributed funds for various projects in Gilgit-Baltistan  in non-transparent manner.

The Opposition Leader expressed the hope that the PTI government would take practical steps for grant of genuine rights of the people of Gilgit-Baltistan.

Furthermore Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhry Fawad Hussain said on Wednesday that last ten years of Balochistan were a classic example of misgovernance by the provincial governments.

In a tweet, the minister said that pension liability of the province has gone up from 290 million to 28.5 billion in 10 years, claiming  that the provincial government had recruited 206,000 peons only.

Chaudhry Fawad said that the Punjab and Sindh were even worse where Shahbaz Sharif and Murad Shah have played havoc with funds of their respective provinces.
