LAKKI MARWAT: Though Chief Justice of Pakistan has taken notice of the killing of Ayub Medical College Abbotabad third year student Asma Rani the protest demonstrations are continued in home district of the murdered student.

The female student Asma Rani was murdered in Kohat on Jan 28 after her parents had refused to give hand to one of the killers Mujahid Afridi who fled to Saudi Arabia on Umra visa after committing the heinous crime. The brutal incident sparked protests in Lakki Marwat district when body of the killed students was brought to Naurang town for burial.

On Wednesday, around one hundred students and youths took out a rally in Lakki city to condemn the killing of female student and express solidarity with her family. Led by youths’ leaders Faisal Kamal and Faqeer Muneeb the rally started from Shaheed Abid Ali chowk near Government Postgraduate College Building on Lakki Tajazai road and converged at Qazi Ishfaq chowk on main bus stand. The protesters carried banners and placards and they raised slogans against the government for failing to arrest the prime suspect of murder case.

Speakers demanded of the government to arrest the prime suspect Mujahid Afridi and facilitators of killers and hang them in public. They said that the residents of entire district were with the bereaved family of slain female students and would raise voice against the heinous incident on all forums.

They warned that the agitation could turn violent if the killer Mujahid Afridi was not arrested within three days. Also in the day, Jamat-e-Islami Youth Khyber Pakhtunkhwa president Abdul Ghaffar visited the residence of Ghulam Dastagir in Naurang town to condole the death of her daughter Asma Rani.

Other office bearers including provincial general secretary Yousaf Mashwani, senior vice president Ejaz Khattak, information secretary Muhammad Naeem Eesaki and JI’s tehsil councilor Azizullah also accompanied him. The JI leaders offered fateha for the slain female medical student and asked the government to bring the killers into clutches of law without any delay.

“Not only the family of Asma Rani the entire nation is deeply saddened over her brutal murder and that Jamat-e-Islami will raise voice against such heinous crimes against women and children”, Mr Ghaffar maintained, calling upon the government to take practical steps for safeguarding the rights of women and to control happening of such incidents in future. He warned that JI youth would launch agitation across the province if prime killer of the murdered female student was not arrested within three days.
