Giving date of elections not prerogative of caretaker govt: Info Minister

ISLAMABAD: Caretaker Minister for Information and Broadcasting Murtaza Solangi says the elections will be held on the date, announced by the Election Commission of Pakistan.

In an interview with a private web news channel, the Minister said he has full confidence in the ability and leadership of the Election Commission of Pakistan. He said it is not the prerogative of the caretaker government to give election date.

He said we are practically going through the phase of election as in the election environment, any party and its leadership have the freedom to give their stance on any important issue.

Murtaza Solangi said all the registered political parties have equal opportunities and the Election Commission and Caretaker Government will ensure equal opportunities for all political parties.

He said media and courts are also free in the country.
