Government employees seek extension of date in receiving of ballot papers

LANDI KOTAL: Office bearers of Tanzeem-e-Asateza, Pakistan, Khyber chapter asked the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to extend date of receiving of ballot for the government employees who will perform their duties in the general election because they have not got their duties letters from ECP.

In a press statement issue here Tanzeem-e-Asateza,Khyber chief Sharifullah Afridi said that so far the government officials especially the teachers who would execute their duties in the upcoming election had not obtained their duty letters but the ECP gave a due date for returning of the ballots.

The illogical act of ECP meant to deprive the huge number of government employees (election crew) of casting their votes, he maintained.

He demanded of the Election Commission, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa high-up to extend the due date for receiving of government employees ballots so that they could utilize their right of vote, ensured by the law.  

It is to be stated here that ECP through press release has fixed 22 January 2024, as last date for receipt of postal ballot for National and Provincial Assembly and the regulator has urged individuals appointed by the returning officers, such as police personnel and polling staff assigned to various polling stations, to submit their postal ballot applications within three days of their appointment.
