Govt asked to take stepsto overcome with crisis

PESHAWAR: A leading businessman and central leader of United Business Group (UBG) former senator Ilyas Ahmad Bilour expressed grave concern over the economic downturn and depleting economy and asked the present coalition government to immediately impose a ban on luxuries and unnecessary imports along with reduction in non-development expenditures.
The UBG senior leader while talking to a group of reporters here on Friday said ‘Kaptan’ which had left the country’s economy in a complete disarray and destruction, so it can be hard to survive even one month.
Bilour asked the present coalition government to take harsh measures to pull the country out from the present economic crisis situation.
The UBG leader suggested imposing a ban on import of vehicles beyond 1300 CC by slapping restrictions on import of luxury cars.
He also expressed serious concern over the rapid strengthening of the US dollar against the Pakistani rupee, stressing the need of imposing restrictions on all those people who were spending dollars during their recreational visits to foreign countries.
Similarly, he said people who would intend to visit abroad for business, they must also allow after proper verification/authentication.
Bilour asked to disallow third Hajj for those people who already performed two Hajj.
Ilyas Ahmad Bilour proposed that non-development expenditures should be curtailed by 12 to 14 per cent in order to lower the increasing pressure on the national economy.
