Govt bans Ajrak, Sindhi cap presentations at school events

F.P. Report

KARACHI: The Sindh government on Tuesday issued a notification banning the presentation of traditional Sindhi Ajrak and caps to guests during school events across the province.

The directive also prohibits the distribution of gifts at official provincial ceremonies and instructs school administrations to stop making students stand up to welcome chief guests.

The notification, circulated among directors, principals, and headmasters of educational institutions, mandates the immediate implementation of these measures. It declares the use of students for receiving guests as inappropriate and warns of strict action against any violation of the orders.

According to the government’s communication, the longstanding practice of gifting Ajrak and Sindhi caps at school functions is to be discontinued with immediate effect.

Furthermore, students will no longer be required to stand in respect or to welcome chief guests during official events.
