Govt committed to protect women rights: President

ISLAMABAD: President Dr Arif Alvi says provision of basic rights, including right of inheritance, to women is part of PTI government’s vision of transforming Pakistan into a welfare Islamic state.

In an exclusive interview with Radio Pakistan’s FM -101 channel on Saturday, the president said the present government is committed to protecting women rights and curb gender-based violence in the country.

Highlighting counter-terrorism efforts of the present government, Dr. Arif Alvi said that international community fully acknowledges Pakistan’s role as a front line state in the fight against terrorism.

Taking part in the interview, First Lady Samina Alvi said elimination of gender-based violence, promotion of girls’ education and gender parity are vital to create a healthy society.

Talking about breast cancer and education of children with disabilities, the first lady called for participating in social work to put Pakistan on road to development.
