Govt deploys Army troops for by-elections

ISLAMABAD: The federal government on Saturday approved the deployment of civil armed forces and Pakistan Army troops as part of tight security arrangements for by-elections.

Civil Armed Forces and Pakistan Army troops will be used as Quick Response Force.

Civil Armed Forces and Pakistan Army troops will be used as second and third tiers.

Civil Armed Forces and Pakistan Army troops will be available in 21 constituencies from today till April 22.

After the approval of the Federal Government, the Ministry of Interior issued the orders.

In this regard, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) had requested the federal government to provide security during the by-elections.

By-elections are going to be held tomorrow (Sunday) in 21 constituencies of National and Provincial Assemblies.
