ISLAMABAD: The government duped by the PTI’s fraudulent claims of staging a march comprising 2 million peoples from across the country while the administration undertook stringent measures to maintain law and order and protect public properties, whereas Imran Khan is leading a crowd of 5-6 thousand people on the D-day.
It was observed by Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah flanked by Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb during a news conference in Islamabad on Wednesday. The Interior Minister was of the view that the government may not have taken protective measures at such a large scale if it knew that the participants of the march would be only a few hundreds.
Rana Sanaullah prayed an apology to the public on behalf of the government for the inconvenience caused by the measures taken by the LEAs to stop the long march reaching the federal capital. Rana Sanauallah thanked the people of Punjab who rejected the PTI’s call for a long march and preferred to stay home instead of attending the march.
While sharing statistics regarding police actions against PTI leaders, Sanaullah said that Police arrested 1700 people in 4414 raids in different parts of the province, while about 420 people had been released after submitting an affidavit while the rest were detained under section-3 of the MPO (Maintenance of Public Order Ordinance).
Sanaullah claimed that no arrest had been made in Balochistan while few cannot be ruled out in Sindh.
The Interior Minister accused the KP government of using provincial resources including cranes, government vehicles, weapons, teargas etc. to take on the LEAs and invade the federal capital.
Rana Sanaullah expressed dismay over the conduct of KP Chief Minister Mahmood Khan who is personally leading the rally against the federation. According to him, PTI leaders Ali Ameen Ghandapur and Amjad Niazi both are leading a few thousand people from Mian wali, and the mob is equipped with guns, teargas and other weapons and aims at bulldozing all resistance in their way to the capital.
Rana Sanaullah said that the Supreme Court has directed both government and the PTI to constitute negotiating committees to handle the situation amicably, PTI has formed a four-member committee under leadership of Dr. Babar Awan while Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has also designated few party leaders for negotiations with the PTI.
According to him, the government will fully abide by the court’s instruction as it is the government’s constitutional duty. The government team will hold talks with the PTI negotiating committee regarding alternative venues for PTI’s rally.
Rana Sanaullah said that the incumbent government had facilitated the public rallies of Pakistan Tahreek-e-Insaaf over the past one month, however no one can be allowed to take law into the hands by staging violent protest in the capital because maintenance of writ of the law is the primary responsibility of the government which will be fulfilled at all cost.
