Govt fully prepared to counter coronavirus: Zafar Mirza

ISLAMABAD: Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on National Health Services Dr Zafar Mirza has on Thursday said the federal and provincial governments and all other institutions are fully prepared to counter the coronavirus epidemic.

The SAPM chaired a meeting of emergency core group in Islamabad and said screening is being ensured at the airports and the ground routes. Seven hundred and sixty thousand passengers have so far been screened, he told while adding that separate rooms are being allocated at hospitals.

Dr Zafar Mirza reiterated that only five coronavirus cases have so far been reported in the country. National Institute of Health chief, federal health secretary, Pakistan Army representatives and other experts attended the meeting.

On the other hand, Dr Zafar Mirza tweeted that everybody does not need to wear mask. Those few who need to use mask include patients having COVID-19 (coronavirus), health workers treating those patients and people having severe cough/flu, he said.
