ISLAMABAD: State Minister States and Frontier Regions Shehryar Afridi Tuesday categorically dispelled the impression that the government had any role in the arrest of Pakistan Muslim League-N’s stalwart Rana Sanaullah in narcotics case.
Talking to media persons, he said the system of the country worked in light of the teachings of Holy Quran, Sunnah and the constitution of Pakistan.
“Rana Sanaullah on last Friday said on the floor of the house holding Quran in his hand that he is innocent and he implicated in the narcotics case on the behest of the Prime Minister,” he said.
‘I asked Rana Sanaulah why the trial is not starting from last seven months, instead of answering my question he ran away,” the minister said.
The government repeatedly request for day to day trial of this case however the trial was starting from 18th of this month finally, Shehryar Afridi added.
He said he has no personal vendetta against Rana Sanaullah but his duty was to ensure the rule of law.
