Govt taking steps to improve Pakistan Railways’ performance: Rasheed

LAHORE: Railways Minister Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed on Saturday said that all possible measures were afoot for the development of Pakistan Railways (PR).

Addressing a press conference here at the Railways Headquarters in Lahore, Sheikh Rasheed said that air-conditioned coaches would be fitted with the Rehman Baba Express next month.

He said that the Sir Syed Express would be launched by the 30th of June this year and apologized the nation for late arrival of trains.

The minister said that the decision in the Royal Palm case would be announced on the 11th of this month and expressed hope for a good decision.

Sheikh Rashid Ahmad said that the condition of Pakistan Railway was improving day by day due to the effective policies of the current government.

Earlier, Federal Minister for Railways Sheikh Rasheed on March 1, had said Pakistan Railways was being developed on modern lines.

“The country would like to utilize Turkey’s experiences in the railways sector,” Sheikh had said during his meeting with the Turkish ambassador to Pakistan Ihsan Mustafa Yurdakul, who had called on him at his office in Islamabad.

They both had discussed cooperation in railway projects between the two brotherly Islamic States.

The minister had invited the Turkish companies to become collaborate in ML-II and III and Quetta, Zahidan and Taftan rail line up-gradation.
