Monitoring Desk

KABUL: The High Peace Council (HPC) will continue giving its suggestions to the government regarding peace negotiation talks with the Taliban, officials from the State Ministry for Peace Affairs said.

“This ministry has worked as an umbrella for better coordination between the government bodies and for better management of the programs related to peace,” said Ghulam Abbas Yahya, deputy state minister for peace affairs.

Meanwhile, the Mawj-e-Tahawul-e-Afghanistan (a political movement) in Kabul has said that it expects a peace agreement will be signed between the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and the Taliban simultaneously with the signing of the peace agreement between the Taliban and the United States and both accords should be guaranteed by the international community.

“We call on the US government, the Taliban and all decision-makers to announce the intra-Afghan talks simultaneously with the agreements and wait for these negotiations to reach some kind of conclusion, and let both agreements to be referred to any address that is forum,” said Fawzia Kofi, the head of Mawj-e-Tahawul-e-Afghanistan.

Meanwhile, a number of civil society activists said that they expect the ongoing conflict to come to an end as a result of a peace agreement between the US and the Taliban.

Activists also called on the Afghan government to set aside their political differences and instead expedite efforts for the creation of a comprehensive and inclusive peace negotiating team so that they can talk to the Taliban from a powerful stance and a unified perspective.(TOLOnews)
