PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Bar Council (KPBC) called on All Pakistan Lawyers Representative Convention against desecration of Holy Quran and argued Government of Pakistan to summon Organization of Islamic Countries (OIC) for establishing a collective narrative to stop Islam-phobic content in future across the globe.
The convention called by KPBC executive committee chairman Syed Mubashir Shah in which vice chairman Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) Haroon-ur-Rasheed, Hassan Raza Pasha, Ahsan Bhon, Chaudary Hafeez-ur-Rehman, Basharat Ullah Khan, Farhan Shahzad, Haji Muhammad Afzal and Ijaz Ahmad Gormani were present.
Punjab Bar Council was represented by Aman Ullah Kakar, Qasim Khan, Rahib Khan while Balochistan Bar council member Abdur Razzaq Mehr, Raja Muhammad Aleem Abbasi, KPBC vice chairman Zar Badshah and Syed Mubashir Shah along with large number of lawyers participated in the convention.
The lawyer’s convention condemned hooliganism on 9th May and argued to end trial in military court of other civilian like children and women were exempted from the military trials because it is against the fundamental rights.
The lawyers also argued Supreme Court of Pakistan to vacate stay-order against Supreme Court practice and procedure Act because it is longstanding demand of legal fraternity.
They also demanded amendment in Legal Practitioner and Bar Council Act 1973 to ease grant in aid procedure for the welfare of legal fraternity.
The legal fraternity had urged general election stipulated timeframe provided by constitution of Pakistan strengthening democracy while argued Supreme Judicial Council to initiate proceedings against Supreme Court’s judge Justice Mazhar Ali Naqvi on bar council’s complaints.
