KABUL: Head of the Hizb-i-Islami Afghanistan (HIA) Gulbuddin Hekmatyar said US efforts in Afghanistan yield no results and alleged stickers had been attached on millions of fraud Tazkeras in an attempt to rig the upcoming polls.

Addressing media persons here, Hekmatyar expressed concern over the attachment of stickers on millions of fake Tazkera or paper ID cards, which would be possibly used for casting vote in the upcoming polls.

The HIA leader said more confrontation between regional and international rivals meant more fighting in Afghanistan.

Referring to the US failure in Afghanistan in almost two decades, the HIA head said Washington had been unable to establish a strong central government in Kabul during the past 17 years.

When asked about the Bilateral Security Agreement (BSA) between the US and Afghanistan, Hekmatyar said the agreement had failed to bring peace and stability to the country.

Hekmatyar alleged some circles within the government were out to engineer the upcoming polls and bring individuals of their interest to the Wolesi Jirga. He added millions of fraud Tazkeras had been marked with election-specific stickers.

He claimed the National Unity Government lacked credibility and willingness to establish peace and end the ongoing conflict. How could those who disagreed with the peace agreement between the HIA and the government would agree to a peace agreement with the Taliban, he asked.
