TIMERGARA: Federal Defense minister and Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf provincial president Pervez Khattak on Monday announced that grouping in the party would never be tolerated and all tickets would be awarded on merit and justice. He was addressing a workers’ convention at a local marriage hall at Timergara as chief guest.
The PTI lawmakers including MNAs Bashir Khan, Syed Mehboob Shah, Sahibzada Sibghatullah, Junaid Khan, MPAs Malik Shafiullah Khan, Azam Khan, Liaqat Khan, Humayun Khan, Shakil Khan, party workers including the disgruntled ones from all parts of the district attended the convention. The lawmakers also spoke on the occasion.
Khattak said that he had never accepted any party position during his political career as satisfying party workers was a hard task. He said the PTI chairman asked him to lead the party in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in a difficult situation, so he accepted this challenge.
The federal defense minister said that the PTI was not a normal party as it had grown to a national level. He said the party had got 1.2 million votes in 2013 but its votes reached 2.5 million in 2018. He said the PTI had formed its government in the province with a total of 48 seats with other allies but it succeeded to get 123 seats in the province in 2018. He said the party had emerged victorious throughout the country in 2018 due to its workers’ hard work and overseas’ important role.
Khattak warned party workers of strict disciplinary action if he found any grouping in the party. The PTI provincial president said the workers wanting to form grouping should part their ways with the PTI. He said the party tickets for the upcoming local bodies’ polls would be awarded to the candidates who could win the election easily. He said the strongest candidates (even his enemies) who could win the election would get party tickets. He said the PTI workers were the real asset of the party and he would try not to disappoint them. He asked workers to get united and shun their differences for the sake of the party and its future.
The PTI stalwart said that his party would again emerge victorious with a sweeping majority both in Lower and Upper Dir. He said the lawmakers had been asked to support the winning candidates. He said that there would be no nepotism and favoritism in awarding of the party tickets for the second phase of LB polls.
Khattak said that he had decided firmly to strengthen the party at grassroots level in the province. He said the party workers would be empowered in all village and Tehsil councils of the province and they would be involved in the decision making process.
