Gunmen, security forces suffer casualties in incidents

KABUL/HERAT: The armed opponents and Afghan forces suffered casualties during ground operations and airstrikes in various parts of the country, officials said on Friday. The Afghan forces conducted ground operation and airstrikes in Paspachik, Molana Kotal and Saidano areas in Charkh district, Logar police spokesman Shahpur Ahmadzai said.

Eight armed opponents were killed and five more wounded in the offensive and airstrikes, he said. An explosives-laden vehicle of the armed opponents was also eliminated. The security forces and civilians did not suffer casualties, he added.

Meanwhile, a press release issued by 203 Tandar military corps stated that 13 armed opponents were killed in drone strikes of the coalition forces in various parts of Charkh district. The coalition forces have not said anything in this regard so far.

Badghis governor’s spokesman Jamshed Shahabi said Taliban attacked a security checkpoint in Miranzai area in Maqur district of Badghis province today.

Four Taliban fighters and two ANA soldiers were killed while two gunmen and two security personnel were injured in the two-hour gunfight, he added.

Taliban have not said anything about these incidents so far. However, their spokesman said their fighters conducted multiple attacks on Afghan forces in various parts of Badghis and Logar provinces.

The security forces suffered heavy casualties in the attacks, he claimed. (AIP)
