Hafeez Shaikh to chair ECC meeting today

ISLAMABAD: Adviser to Prime Minister on Finance Dr Abdul Hafeez Shaikh will chair a meeting of Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) in Islamabad on Friday (today).

It would be the first time that Adviser to Prime Minister on Finance Hafeez Shaikh would preside over the ECC meeting after taking charge of his new responsibilities. Sources said that an 18-point agenda would be discussed during the meeting.

A comprehensive plan for Pakistan Steel Mills restoration and a summery for appointment of an advisory consortium would come under discussion during the meeting.

Sources further informed that a summary of Rs 54 crore supplementary grant for National Savings Organizations would be presented the summary of supplementary grant for Punjab Rangers would also be tabled in the meeting.

The matter of additional funds of Rs 3 crore and 72 lakh for the Interior Ministry would also come under consideration while the issue of payment of salaries to Khasadar Force in South Waziristan is also part of the agenda.
