Hamza Baba commemorated

LANDI KOTAL: The 24th death anniversary of great Pashto poet and Baba-e-Ghazal Amir Hamza Khan Shinwari observed here in Landi Kotal.

In this connection a litrary gathering was organized under the auspices of Hamza Baba Pakhto Adabi Jiraga at Hamza Baba Complex that was attended by numbers of poets, literary figures and lovers of Hamaz Baba from across the Khyber Agency and paid rich tribute to the Pashto poet and highlighted different aspects of his life.  Poetry reciting (mushaira) session that was presided by Dr Kaleem Shinwari was also held and the participants’ poets amused the audience by reading their poems. The participants admired and acknowledged great services of Hamza Baba, had rendered for the up lift of Pashto language and paid rich tribute to him through their prose, Pashto verses and ghazal recited on the occasion. Hamza Baba who is remembered as pioneer of Pashto modern ghazal passed away on 18 February 19, 1994.
