Health system upgraded to deal with corona

PESHAWAR (APP): Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Health and Finance, Taimor Saleem Jhagra has said that doctors’ organizations are working against corona pandemic and keeping in view their services the sector would be paid first in next budget.

Talking to media and doctors at Civil Secretariat here Saturday, he said that lock down had been eased but the virus had not yet disappeared so we have to change our lifestyle and fight against corona pandemic.

He said health system was being upgraded to deal with corona virus as well as dengue and polio. Protective gears have been provided to all hospitals in the province while the shortage of doctors and paramedics has been met.

He said that personnel on duty at front line are our heroes and their sacrifices would not go waste. He said that the entire health system is being monitored and in two months, equipment and safety equipment worth Rs 4 billion have been procured.

He said that the federal government has given full support to province in current emergency situation providing every kind of assistance. Health Minister said that 1000 tests are being conducted daily in Khyber Medical University.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Health Taimur Saleem Jhagra Saturday said the government is easing lockdown to facilitate the public but not to compromise on their health.

Addressing a news conference here, he said all markets and shops would be closed after 04:00 pm regularly in the province and would remain close on Friday, Saturday and Sunday as part of precautionary measures.

He said the government was monitoring the statistics of corona during the relaxed lockdown and if the virus spreads at a rapid pace the lockdown would be made strict again.

The Minister urged masses and traders’ community to follow SOPs of the government to prevent the outbreak of corona virus, adding that top priority of the government is to protect lives of people.

He said in the upcoming fiscal budget the government would allocate huge amount for health sector to cater the needs of people.
Appreciating the services of frontline forces especially doctors and paramedics, Jhagra said that paramedics and doctors are rendering great services against coronavirus in this hour tragedy.
