Heat wave to continue till Friday in Karachi: PMD

KARACHI: Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) on Thursday predicted that heat wave will continue in Karachi till Friday.

PMD official told media that it is expected that the temperature in Karachi remain between 41 and 43 degree Celsius on Thursday and on Friday it is likely to touch 42 degrees Celsius.

Mayor Karachi Waseem Akhtar, declared an emergency in the government hospitals of the city and instructed medical staff to take all appropriate measures, after taking notice of the recent heatwave.

The temperature in Karachi was recorded at 39 degree Celsius around 12 pm earlier today and is expected to rise to 43 degree Celsius.

The PMD official added that currently there are no chances of rain in the city and the temperature usually crosses 40 degree Celsius in May.

PMD predicted that during the months of May and June, the temperature in Pakistan, especially in Sindh and Punjab, will remain one to two degrees above normal.
