HEC awards 64 best university teachers for 2016

Islamabad: Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training, Engr. Muhammad Baligh Ur Rehman has said that the teachers are the very big source for taking any nation towards development. The Federal Minister was addressing as chief guest the “Best University Teacher Awards-2016” Ceremony at Higher Education Commission (HEC) Auditorium on Wednesday. He said that no country can progress without paying attention towards human development.

He said that it is honour for the present government that it fully focused on education and dedicated towards the promotion of quality education in the country. Baligh Ur Rehman said that no can deny the importance of teachers in the development of society. Teachers are the people who educate, train and develop the youth of society who in turn become the leaders of the next generation, he said. He said that allocations for education sector has been increased and the funding for HEC has been increased record Rs107 billion. The Federal Minister also appreciated the Higher Education Commission for starting the new programs and strengthening the existing programs.

He also emphasized the need for focusing on applied research for coping with the social issues. The Federal Minister said that syllabus from Class I-V has been revised, and the character building is emphasized upon in the new curriculum. He said that it is very important to make our students life-long learners so that they could differentiate between right and wrong.

The Federal Minister said that law has also been passed according to which teaching of naazrah Holy Quran to students from class one to five and teaching of translation of Holy Quran from class six to twelve has been made compulsory in all educational institutions in federal capital.

The Federal Minister said that it is for the first time that the federal government along with the provincial governments has set the education standards. He said it is for the first time in the history of Pakistan that National Vocational Qualifications Framework (NVQF) has been finalized. He said TVET (Technical and Vocational Education and Training) Policy has also been formed. Baligh Ur Rehman said that the only way forward is democracy and the future of Pakistan is attached to democracy. He noted that Pakistan is rapidly moving towards development and expecting to attain 6 pc GDP growth rate this year. The Federal Minister said that usage of technology and adopting new trends are also very important for development.

He said that Urdu and regional languages are our assets and conceptual learning is come through native language. He congratulated all the university teachers who got awards for their hard work and dedication to noble profession. At the end, the Federal Minister distributed awards among the university teaches.
