ISLAMABAD: On Tuesday, Leader of Hezb-e-Islami of Afghanistan, Gulbuddin Hekmatyar called on Prime Minister Imran Khan and appreciated Pakistan’s positive role in facilitating the Afghan peace process. Hekmatyar praised Pakistan for its support to Afghan peace Process.
He expressed gratitude to Pakistan for its long-standing contribution to the socio-economic development of Afghanistan and for hosting millions of Afghan refugees for more than four decades. On the other hand, in response to Hekmatyar positive comments for Pakistan, Prime Minister Imran Khan highlighted the historic bond of friendship and brotherhood between two immediate neighbours. According to the official PM Media office, Prime Minister Khan accentuated the importance that Pakistan attached to the brotherly Afghan people. PM Khan also reaffirmed that Pakistan is determinate to advance closer cooperation with Afghanistan.
A press release issued by the PM Media Office states that, the Prime Minister expressed hope and best wishes for fruitful outcome of the Afghan peace process as Pakistan had the highest stake in peace and stability in the region.
Prime Minister commented that he has stood by this narrative that there was no military solution to the destructive and un-ending Afghan war. He said that Pakistan will stand by an Afghan-led and Afghan-owned peace process was the only way forward for a sustainable future. Prime Minister highlighted that Intra-Afghan negotiations provided a historic opportunity for peace.
