BALKH: Yassin, a 25-year-old resident of Balkh district in Balkh province, felt tired and incapacitated twenty days ago when he returned from Iran. Before moving to his hometown in Balkh district, he said, he went to the COVID-19 disease center in Mazar-e-Sharif city, capital of Balkh province.

Yasin, a student, spent 18 days in isolation and during this time he ate fruits–such as apples and oranges–and quinoa–at his doctor’s instructions.

He says using fruits to control the disease is very effective.

“I felt very tired when I came from Iran and arrived in Kabul, and I was weak, my chest hurt more, so I came to Balkh Hospital and quarantined myself,” said Yasin.

Yassin is urging people to take COVID-19 disease seriously and he seems satisfied with the treatment of doctors in Balkh. “Although the facilities are low and there is no standard equipment, the doctors still do their best,” said Yasin.

Doctors say Yasin’s health has improved and his coronavirus test is negative, and he no longer has any symptoms of the coronavirus.

“According to standard procedure, medicines were recommended by doctors, and, finally, after eighteen days, the second sample from this patient tested negative, and his condition is good at the moment,” said Naeem Nehad, who heads the COVID-19 Patients’ Hospital in Mazar-e-Sharif.

Meanwhile, Khalilullah Hekmati, the head of Balkh’s public health directorate, said the coronavirus was spreading and would cause a “humanitarian catastrophe” if people did not follow orders from the Health Ministry.

“Unless the citizens themselves take part, it won’t be just difficult–it will be impossible for us to overcome COVID-19,” added Hekmati.

Information from Balkh’s public health directorate indicates that in the province four people have died of the virus, there have been two survivors, and six others are in isolation. (TOLOnews)
