MUMBAI: After hitting a home run with the Rajinikanth starrer 2.0, director Shankar is all set to get back in the game with Indian 2, a sequel to his hit 1996 crime thriller Indian with Kamal Haasan in the lead role.

Rumours have been doing rounds for quite a while now claiming that Shankar has narrated the project to Hrithik Roshan and the superstar has already agreed to come on board. However, the makers haven’t decided whether they want to make it in a format of a web series or a feature film.

Now, according to a report in a leading daily, irrespective of what the project turns out to be, a web streaming giant has already shown keen interest in telecasting it. If this deal does go through, it will mark the debut of Hrithik Roshan in the digital space. A source close to the project revealed,“Once the final draft is ready, Shankar will begin his recce for the shoot. The project is likely to roll in October and will be shot in a South-east Asian island. Shankar has always been keen to work with Hrithik Roshan and has been trying since the last four years but somehow it has never worked out. Shankar feels with Hrithik’s good looks, great physique and superb dancing skills, he can do justice to the kind of scripts that Shankar has.”

Interestingly, Hrithik Roshan was also offered the main lead by Shankar, in the Hindi version of the Tamil revenge-drama, I, however the collaboration couldn’t take place as he had already committed his dates to another project.
