I am not at fault in upsurge in prices of medicines: Kiani

ISLAMABAD: Former health minister Amir Kiani has said that he accepts Imran Khan decision but prices of  medicines  have not increased due to any fault on his part.

“I accept Imran Khan decision but I am not at fault in hike in medicines prices. I have confidence on Imran Khan. I am ready to go if Imran sends me to border with gun. It is shocking that allegation of incompetence was leveled against me”, he said this while reacting to his removal from slot of health minister here Saturday.

He held PML-N cabinet increased the prices of medicines to some extent and  the prices rose due to increase in the value of dollar to some extent.  He stated that decision  to increase the prices of medicines by 2.4 percent in respect of 345 medicines  was taken during PML-N regime. Owing to the bill approved by PML-N cabinet the price of medicine worth Rs 100 escalated to Rs 240. Reduction was made in prices of 80 medicines but the companies did not reduce the prices. The increase announced by us led to nominal increase in the prices of medicines.

He remarked Imran Khan eye is on people and I accept his decision. He is my leader.
