‘I can expose Balkh child’s kidnappers if govt wants so’

MAZAR-I-SHARIF (Pajhwok): An illegal armed group commander, Nizamuddin Qaisari, on Thursday said he could expose the kidnappers of a nine-years-old boy in northern Balkh province if the Presidential Palace and the National Security Council asked him for help.

He said the local administration of Balkh could not launch an operation against the kidnappers because it lacked courage. However, Balkh governor Farhad Azimi, in reaction to Qaisari’s statements, said that the government should investigate Qaisari’s claims and should bring him justice if his statements were proved to be politically motivated.

Also a former police chief of Qaisar district of Faryab province, Qaisari who currently lives in Mazar-i-Sharif, the capital of Balkh, said that he would expose the kidnappers of Abdul Raouf if President Ghani, Amrullah Saleh and the NSC sought his help. He made the statements while meeting with a number of protestors in front of Balkh governor’s house, who have been demanding the releasue of Abdul Raouf.

Qaisari said the local administration and the governor knew the kidnappers but they had no courage to take action against them. “I have talked with the Balkh governor about the kidnapped boy, I told him the names of kidnappers, he also knew them, but I he may not exposing them because he fears them,” he said.

He said he also provided the address of a suspected house to the detective organs of the Ministry of Interior last week that should have been searched, but they took no action. “They probably fear or have connection with the kidnappers and that is the reason they are taking no action”, he added.

Baklh governor, Farhad Azimi, in a statement said that Qaisari should be taken to justice if his remarks proven political motivated. “I want senior officials of the country to investigate these statements, it would be good if our security forces find the kidnapped boy, but if these statements are politically motivated then it should be taken to law,” he said. He said people had registered complaints against Qaisari with the governor’s house and security organs.

“Despite all these issues, I still met with Qaisari last day and he promised to avoid irresponsible statements about legal issues or engaging in disputed matters,” he said. A week back, the Balkh governor said that the kidnapping of the boy was a complicated issue. President Ghani also ordered relevant organs to take urgent steps for the release of the child or he would fire senior Balkh officials for their failure.
