KABUL: The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has announced to reduce its activities in Afghanistan after several attacks on its staff in different parts the country.
Monica Zanarelli, head of delegation for the ICRC in Afghanistan has said in the last 10 months ICRC has been directly targeted three times in northern Afghanistan including Mazar-i-Sharif which we considered one of the safest place and it badly affected the ICRC in Afghanistan but as whole organization.
She added that this is a difficult decision and moment for the ICRC staff and adding that after 30 years of continuous presence in the country, we are reducing our presence and operations. We are only limiting our activities not living Afghanistan and will continue to assist the affected people of war in the best way, She added.
