ICT admin seals two sectors after confirmed virus cases

ISLAMABAD: The count of infections from the Coronavirus reached to 313 on Thursday while 33 out of 100 tested positive in I-10 sector of the federal capital following which the sector was sealed by the city administration Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Muhammad Hamza Shafqat confirmed to The Frontier Post.


A notification issued from deputy commissioner Islamabad office mentioned that the district magistrate while using administrative powers of the pandemic act ordered that sub sectors of I-10/1 and I-10/4 to be sealed and requested the deployment of Islamabad police and rangers to cordon off the said sectors to ensure public safety.
Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Hamza Shafqat told Frontier Post that today 33 suspects found positive of the coronavirus infection, adding that more than hundreds tests have been conducted in which 37 are negative as well 40 suspects are present in the area which already tested and waiting of results.
Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Muhammad Hamza Shafqat added that law enforcers have been deployed in the areas and a plan has been finalized to provide food and other commodities of basic necessity to the residents during the lockdown.
“The areas will remain sealed for seven days and after that, the ICT administration will decide the future course of action. As many as 40 other persons in these two sectors are suspected to have coronavirus” DC added.
It’s pertained to mentioned here that the federal capital tally of the infection was on normal limb but an explosion of the infection reported two days ago on April 28, as 36 new cases reported, Islamabad saw the single biggest spike in its COVID-19 tally since the beginning of the outbreak.
Another 16 cases were reported on April 29, bringing Islamabad’s tally of the total infection to 313.
Deputy Commissioner while commenting on highest numbers reported today in the mentioned sector added that inside the sector the laws of social distancing were violated as market and other places found crowded since 15 days due to which highest number of cases reported.
The capital administration some two days ago relaxed lock-down in federal capital and allowed people to visit public parks and trails in capital following the precautionary measures but Mayor Islamabad Sheikh Ansr Aziz opposed this move and mentioned that allowing people inside parks and trails will increase the infections in federal capital.
The data of the capital administration mentioned that currently the Barakaho and sector I-10 are hotspots of the covid-19 infections.
