ICU hockey Astro-Turf work completed

PESHAWAR: The work of laying a tartan track establishing synthetic hockey Astro-Turf in Islamia College University has completed.

The official said that the under construction hockey stadium work has complete and is ready to play and which will be soon inaugurated by Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtun Khwa Mehmood Khan.

The pictures of the hockey Astro-Turf after built in the ground of historical ICU have gone viral, making the fans of ICU happy on social media, who started sharing pictures of the stadium to point out that how fascinating the new looks are better.

It is pertinent to mention here that Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa by showing his love and respect towards the historical educational institution Islamia College Peshawar announced a hockey Astro-Turf after Islamia college vital contribution towards sports and especially in hockey by producing world class players and hockey Olympian.

Director sports of Islamia College Peshawar Ali Hoti said that full attention was being paid to the promotion of sports activities in the university and the and the ongoing work the hockey Astro-Turf has been completed and soon the modern facility would be available for the local talent.

He said that the construction of hockey Astru-Turf would not only boost sports activities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa but also benefit the players from all over the country as it is a historical ground, which would have a prominent identity in the whole country.

Ali Hoti said that Islamia College University produced famous hockey players in which late Olympian Brigadier Hameedi, Pakistan former skipper and Olympic Abdul Rashid, Qazi Mohib and other and now the completion work of equipping Islamia College University Peshawar with modern-day sporting facilities would open the door for new talent in the near future.
