IE reacts to resolution of European parliament

KABUL (TOLOnews): The Islamic Emirate, in response to the adoption of a resolution by the European Parliament, said that the world should respect Islamic values in Afghanistan.
Zabihullah Mujahid, the spokesperson for the Islamic Emirate, called the implementation of the death penalty in the country a necessity and added that other countries should not interfere in such matters.
Mujahid said: “The principles that Islamic Sharia deems necessary exist without a doubt, retribution is a Sharia ruling over the system that must be implemented, and in this regard, the intervention of any country and any direction is unacceptable.”
Earlier, representatives of the European Parliament adopted a resolution with 513 votes in favor and 24 abstentions, regarding what they consider the prevention of the death penalty and restrictions on women in Afghanistan.
In this resolution, the European Parliament called for equal participation of women and girls in various fields in Afghanistan.
Karin Melchior, a representative of the European Parliament, said: “In Afghanistan right now, girls are robbed of their dreams, women are caged in their houses and a generation is suffering under Taliban rule. So, we must keep talking about Afghanistan. As the world watches transactional and silent.”
Meanwhile, some political analysts believe that the Islamic Emirate should accept the legitimate demands of the international community to progress in relations with regional and beyond the region countries.
“This is not beneficial until we come together and agree with ourselves and find a solution to these challenges,” said Mohammad Aslam, a university scholar.
In more than two and a half years of the Islamic Emirate’s rule, international institutions and various countries have continually expressed concern about human rights violations, especially women’s rights in the country; an issue that the Islamic Emirate has always denied.
