IEA condemns US visarestriction on its leaders

KABUL (Pajhwok): The ‘Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’ (IEA) has condemned recent US decision of imposing new visa restrictions on some of its leaders and urged the resolution of disputes through diplomatic channel, according to a statement on Friday.
IEA asked US to remain committed to the Doha Agreement and through implementation demonstrate that legal documents and agreements signed with the US are trustworthy.
The acing IEA government reaffirmed its readiness to discuss all outstanding issues with the US.
The statement said that IEA as a responsible government was committed to all rights of tis people which are necessitated by the holy religion of Islam accepted Afghan tradition and demanded by the time.
Earlier, the Biden administration slapped fresh visa restrictions on current and former members of IEA and others believed to be involved in curbing the rights of women and girls in Afghanistan. Secretary of State Antony Blinken announced on Wednesday the restrictions also applied to non-state security group members and others involved in trampling on women’s rights. In a statement from the State Department, Blinken noted: “The Taliban’s most recent edicts ban women from universities and from working with NGOs…” The decrees tightened the caretaker government’s previous measures that closed secondary schools to girls and limited the ability of women and girls to participate in Afghan society and economy, he said.
