IEA leader’s decree to be implemented promptly: Retirees

KABUL (TOLOnews): A number of retirees have once again expressed grievances over their hardships, especially during the cold season, and have called on the Islamic Emirate to expedite the process of paying their pensions.

Ghulam Zubair, who once served as a teacher at Kabul’s Esteqlal High School, told TOLOnews that all members of his family lost their lives in the Kabul airport explosion.

Ghulam Zubair told TOLOnews: “I swear to the Quran and God that we spent days hungry, and I had to ask others to buy bread for me, which they did.”

Retirees are demanding clarity regarding their situation after several weeks have passed since the leader of the Islamic Emirate issued a decree to establish a special court for processing the payment of pensions.

Wahdat, one of the retirees, said: “When a decree is issued, the Directorate of Retirement should contact the Minister of Finance, summon them, and request where the commission will be established.”

Habibullah, another retiree, stated: “If a court is to be established, it should be done quickly. When the leader of a country issues a decree, it should be implemented within a day or two. It has been ten or fifteen days, and the decree has not been implemented.”

Meanwhile, Zabihullah Mujahid, spokesperson for the Islamic Emirate, stated that efforts to pay pensions are underway. According to Mujahid, time is needed to complete the work of the courts and the Ministry of Finance.

The spokesperson for the Islamic Emirate said: “The technical matters related to the court, the Ministry of Finance, or other institutions are under review. God willing, facilities will be provided in this regard, and pensions will be paid to the retirees.”

This comes as on the first day of Jadi (December 21), the leader of the Islamic Emirate ordered the Supreme Court to convene a special court to find a solution for pension payments based on Sharia and the law. However, no news has yet emerged about the court’s convening.
