IHC grants interim bail to Qureshi, Umar till July 10

F.P. Report

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court on Friday granted interim bail to PTI Senior Vice Chairman Shah Mehmmod Qureshi and party quitter Asad Umar till July 10 in a case related to May 9 violent protests and registered in Tarnol police station.

The court also restrained police from arresting the duo in the case.

The court issued notice to police and sought case record by July 10.

The court granted interim bail to Qureshi and Umar against Rs100,000 surety bonds.

Yesterday, the IHC allowed Qureshi and Umar to appear before the court today (Friday) as they reached the court at 7:30am on Thursday but were not allowed to enter.

It bears mentioning that earlier a local court had dismissed the pre-arrest bail petitions of the two in the same case. Soon after the rejection of their bail applications, the duo escaped the court quickly in order to avoid arrest.
