Implementation of High Court decision sought

TIMERGARA: The class IV employees working in government departments on Monday demanded of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to ensure eight hours duty for watchmen at schools across the province as per the Peshawar High Court decision.

They also threatened to come on the roads if the decision was not implemented in letter and spirit. The demand was made during a convention of the All Class IV Employees Association Lower Dir chapter held at the district assembly hall Balambat with its provincial president Akbar Khan Momand in the chair.

Association’s Punjab chapter general secretary Ijaz Ahmad Diwana, Gujranwala president Muhammad Riaz Qadari, KP general secretary Ashfaq Ahmad Khattak, district presidents from Chitral, Buner, Nowshera, Malakand Agency and over 300 class IV employees attended the event. Provincial parliamentary secretary local government MPA Saeed Gul was chief guest while Timergara tehsil nazim Riaz Muhammad represented district government. All Pakistan Clerks Association (APCA) leaders Muhammad Shair Tajak and Muhammad Salim were also present on the occasion. The MPA Saeed Gul administered oath to the newly elected district cabinet members of the association.

The association provincial president Akbar Khan Momand, general secretary Ashfaq Ahmad Khattak, Lower Dir president Ubaid ur Rehman, general secretary Rahatullah Rughani and others while speaking on the occasion said the Peshawar High Court had fixed eight hours duty for watchmen but the decision was not being implemented in schools and hospitals.

They demanded restoration of class IV employees’ son quota in jobs, recruitment of second watchman at schools, approval of time scale formula for them, compensatory amount to class IV employees on each poll day and their exemption from security guard duty. They also demanded increase in firewood and charcoal allowances. Addressing the function MPA Saeed Gul promised the participants to raise their genuine issues on assembly floor. He admitted that poor class IV employees were being treated step-motherly. The MPA said the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government up-graded class IV employees for the first time since 1947. He said he would also inform the concerned authorities about the problems and complaints presented by the speakers.
