Implementing NAP indispensable for sustained peace: President Alvi

F.P. Report

QUETTA: President Dr Arif Alvi on Tuesday stressed the need for implementation of the National Action Plan (NAP) for sustained peace in the country, as he met with the families of the victims of Hazarganji blast in Quetta.

The president visited the Hazara Town Imam Bargah earlier today, where he met and condoled with the bereaved families and offered fateha for the departed souls. Twenty people, including eight Hazara, were killed and 48 others injured in a suicide blast in Quetta’s Hazarganji sabzi mandi last week.

Condemning the attack, President Alvi said providing safety to its citizens was the state’s responsibility and urged people to share the responsibility of protecting each other.

Eulogising the Hazara community for exhibiting unity and solidarity despite the adversities, the president said the nation stands with them in their hour of grief.

“Loss of life has no alternative,” he said, adding that the martyrs’ sacrifices and the patience shown by the bereaved families would always be remembered.

He said that despite conspiracies against the country to create a divide, the nation had exhibited harmony by rejecting any mutual differences.

He said there would be no compromise on maintenance of peace and assured the Balochistan government that the federal government would provide every required assistance in this regard.

The president further said the government would foil conspiracies of anti-state elements against progress and prosperity of Pakistan.
